THE EARTHQUAKE

This is a sudden earth movement or vibration in the crust. The scientific study and interpretation of the earthquake is known as seismology.

NATURE OF THE EARTHQUAKE

CAUSES OF EARTHQUAKE
v Movement or sliding of tectonic plate over the other caused by faulting of the lithospheric plates.
v Volcanic eruption
v Mass wasting; falling of materials from the higher land.

EFFECT OF EARTHQUAKE
  1.  The Earthquake caused destruction of properties, such as building, transport and     infrastructure.
  2.  They led people to lose their life.
  3.  They caused fire outbreaks.

THE EARTH’S SRUCTURE

INTERNAL EARTH’S STRUCTURE

The Earth refer as a planet in which life exist. The internal structure of the Earth composed by three main layers: the crust, mantle and core.

THE CRUST OR LITHOSPHERE
This is the outer most part of the earth which has a thickness of about 6 to 40 kilometer (5 to 30 miles) and is largely composed of igneous rock. The crustal consists of two layers which are SIMA and SIAL. Between crustal and mantel there is a thin layer known as Mohorovic.

THE MANTEL OR MESOSPHERE
This is the central part of the Earth which is made up by igneous rocks. Mantel is denser than crust and it is about 2890km. The mantel and the core are separated by a layer called Gutenberg.

THE CORE OR BARYSPHERE
This is the inner part of the Earth made up by nickel and iron. Its diameter is 6339km. Core is divided into two parts that is the inner core (solid) and the outer core (liquid).
